In order to calculate the Mean Effective Pressure of Internal Combustion IC Engines we need to know certain parameters.

 

 

These parameters are,

Number of Cylinders of IC Engine

IC Engine Stroke in cm.

IC Engine bore in cm

Compression Ratio of IC Engine

 

Pressure in Intake Manifold of IC Engine in atm

The temperature in the intake manifold of the IC Engine in Kelvin K.

 

The value of fuel-to-air ratio mixture by mass.

The Chemical energy released when 1kg of gasoline or fuel is burnt.

 

The Mechanical Efficiency of IC Engine

The Efficiency by which the Crankshaft is connected to the propeller of the Airplane

The rpm of IC Engine

The value of the Air constant , gamma = 1.4

 

The value of Cp = 1008 J/kg.K

and the value of R = 287 J/kg.K

 

Performing the calculation, the displacement d of a IC Engine is calculated and the mean effective pressure Pe of an IC engine is calculated.
